The Mellvids Big Band

The composition of our big band is that of the swing big bands and jazz orchestras of the late thirties, the early forties, and contains four sections: trombone, trumpet, saxophone and rhythm section (bass, guitar, piano and drums).

In addition, three talented vocal soloists also part of our big band, namely: Chantal Himbrecht, Miet Vandorpe and Andre Dheere .
Conductor Florence Bellière , professional trumpet player, directs our group of about 20 musicians.

"The Mellvids Big Band" plays different musical styles. Swing, but also latin (bossa, mambo ...), ballads, jazz, rock, funk, .... Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Cole Porter, Irving Berling, Louis Prima, George Gershwin, James Last, Lennie Niehaus, Harry James, ... Antonio Carlos Jobim, Perez Prado, Chuck Rio, ... and music from local composers such as André Jean, Roger Renard, Bert Paige, Jack Bulterman, .... This music is very danceable.

"The Mellvids Big Band" plays not only listening concerts or musical entertainment at fairs, ceremonies, weddings, corporate events, sporting events, congresses, etc., but can also perfectly used as a dance band. The big band performs about 10 times per year.

Requested fee: depending on the duration and distance (no travel costs within a radius of 20 km. of Ghent).

Specific requirements :

* Only fixed place concerts (no walking concerts), inside as well as in open air
* Own sound equipment available.
* Stage (or flat hard surface), preferably at least 8m wide x 6m deep
* No appearance in small groups (eg: combo)
